Having a friend who did braces half years more than me mentally prepares me for anything new ahead of me... I thought the rubberbands was already bad enough, even though I only wore it in night time... Unfortunately, this power chain is more powerful than what I thought... I mean what could be worst?
The teeth was very very stiff.... The first day when I still have a few of the tuitions to go, my face was totally black, my students commented that I look fierce when I don talk or smile.... LOL.... But am lucky that my dentist has a habit of gradually increase the strength of my braces.... if not I could believe what's ahead of me! Maybe several days of "black face"? LOL

Its been quite sometime since I last updated!
Alright, after few months to half a year of suffering, I finally have a set of much presentable teeth! Meaning straighter set of teeth ;) Yeah..... *Applause*
The right side of the tooth gaps are closing up pretty fast and is even faster than I imagined! As of the left side, *sigh* think still need quite a little bit of time.... ;)
So far I've changed quite a number of colour combination of my rubber bands, baby blue with baby pink, dark pink, blue, park purple with dark pink, baby pink with dark purple.... Gonna try more funky colours in the coming braces adjustments!!! haha... Feel so fun to have so many cute colours on my teeth :) Realised all most of them are pink? maybe for the next treatment I should forget abt pink :P Thanks people for reading... and I cant wait to end this blog soon with my before and after pic right after my braces :) Stay tuned!!!!

Second tightening~~~
Can already see some improvement on my obvious crooked 2 front tooth and the slight decayed tooth that is hidden before my treatment has been exposed and that could finally do my fillings on my next dental visit... Whew... had been worried for that for such a long long long time....
Yesterday tightening... as usual... teeth stiff and feel sooo tight... yesterday can just feel the pull and pain... sometime left side, sometime right side... sigh~~~ so hoping that this will end soon~~

Seperators + Ring (Metal band)
Omg... These few days these two things are just killing me.... I know whole lot of you would be thinking...
"I thought seperators comes before braces?"
My answer is not exactly... if your extraction and your braces fixing day is about a week or so.... Your seperator will come after you fit on braces... (Prove me if I'm wrong... Cos that's what I've been told by my ortho...)
Now I tell you what.... braces torturing... but seperators even worse!!!! (for me).. it took me quite some time to get used to as when you bite you will feel this bouncing feeling on your jaw (no joke!) and slowly your jaw will feel "sour" as they are slowly pushing your tooth to form a gap in between the 2 tooth.... as a result.... 2 days of unable to eat :( But am happy to slightly loss some fats out of my diet.... as couldnt eat solid food... argh~~~
Now some of you who never experience braces may exclaimed: "For what create gap? thought they are supposed to fix your teeth not create gaps?" right? It is to fit the "Ring" (some people call it metal band) onto your Molar tooth (4 of it) so it can pull your teeth from the front to the back...
Then I was supposed to fit this Metal band on 4 of my molars.... And trust me... I was abit scared when the ortho try to fit this stupid ring on my tooth as he was using strength to do it!!! I was soooo afraid that my gum/tooth's gonna be damaged by his force.... Now my 4 molar tooth look as though it is "semi-crowned" with silver... haha... no joke! my teeth did not feel any discomfort as compared to the first braces fixing as well as my separators.... as least can eat la... haha okie... looking forward to my next appointment.... I heard he need to change wire for me... hopefully I'll be alright... Take care guys!!

3rd, 4th and 5th days after the braces is fixed on
These days were the tough one, because you cannot eat even though you know tat you are hungry... all I could eat was bowl of porridge and 4th day slightly better... I could eat "Zui Kuay" which doesnt need much of the chewing.... and finally today, I could eat a packet of chicken rice!! I was so excited but I still couldnt bite with my front teeth so I couldnt manage to eat noodles....
No much changes on the teeth, Guess its just first few days of treatment.... needs lotsa patient on that... Still feel some discomfort... feel as though the teeth wasnt mine, but well... hope it would get better as time goes by... Gonna get my separators fixed in on 25th Feb 2013.... Looking forward to it!

My long waited braces - Beginning stage (1st month)
Hi! I am Sally, a girl (or maybe a un-lady-like Lady?) from Singapore, this year age 23 coming 24. The reason I wanna create this blog is to record down my experience on getting the braces done within this 2 to 3 years.
I always wanted braces so badly ever since I was 15 years old due to my self-conciousness of my severely crooked set of teeth... And yes! I finally managed to got it yesterday and i thought of sharing my 3 years treatment experience here so as for me to remember this important milestone of my life!
I've got my braces done at A Dental Clinic @ Jurong East. I must say... You can easily overcome all your phobias you've got from your primary school dentist experience as there are no pain at all while doing your scaling, polishing and even fillings!!
I've taken 2 x-rays and Dr Ng (who is my dentist consultant for braces) suggested tat I need to remove 5 tooths
I've got 5 tooths removed altogether... 4 pre-molars and 1 molar... scary... but Dr Ng did a great job in helping me overcome the fear of getting the tooths extracted... 21 Jan 2012 I did the first extraction and 28 Jan 2012 I did the second one.... and yesterday (4 Feb 2012) I got my braces fixed on.
Immediately after the braces were fixed on, there's no much feeling or pain. About 1 hour later.. you will feel the pull which will make your teeth (or your gum) feel sore.. Cant even chew on tofu or bread... The most unbearabole part is you cant eat solid food when you know you are hungry... So I ate (in fact swallow) some porridge and one half boil egg, took painkiller and went to sleep at 10pm, which is far too early than my usually sleep (12am or so)... And this morning I woke up with no much pain... but I still cant eat solid food.... Hope tmr onwards would be better! :) and hopefully I can get to loss some weight in the process :)
